Wow. It’s been a minute since I’ve been here. Let me start by saying Happy New Year, everyone!! May this year bring you love, success, laughter, and great memories! Like every year, as the new year approaches, people always want to know your resolutions. I personally stopped making them. I feel like if there’s work to be done, you can do it at anytime.
Let’s just assume that the new year means a fresh start. A fresh start can be at health, a fresh start at wealth, a fresh start at holiness, and even a fresh start at love. My thing is, I don’t want to wait. Let’s do it now! You don’t have to wait until the new year to be great or be the best you. Now, I do believe is that change can be good, and for the most of us the new year serves as a change for the better. The question is how long does that change last?
Change can be simple. Something as simple as your eating. I didn’t say anything about exhorting physical activity (yet), I only said a change in your eating habits. I love sodas (which I call pops), but the truth is, I don’t purchases them myself. I only drink them because my husband purchases them. I recently told him that if he don’t buy them, I won’t drink them. Simple as that. I haven’t had one in over a week. For years I’ve been convinced that I need a soda to burp. I’ve never been a fan of good ole water but here I am burping off water. I’ve suffered from gastral problems my entire life so I also decided to eat meat only once a day. Let me be clear, in no way am I trying be a vegetarian or pescatarian. I love meat, I’m just cutting back for better digestion and I could definitely afford to lose a couple pounds. Whether you want to hear this or not, I’ll admit that not only have I been more regular, I’m not as bloated as normal.
Change can be as simple as changing throw pillows on your sofa or bed. In October, I finally started doing something I was passionate about…..decorating. In November, I had a client who wanted to change her living room in 10 days. Ten days isn’t a lot when you have a full-time job, family, and you’re working in someone else’s house. Like most of us, we don’t have money to make drastic changes. The good thing is, something as simple as accessorizing makes a huge difference. (You’ll see from the pictures below.) What also shocked me was when I sold my client the rug from under my bed and replaced mine. Even something as simple as a rug made my room look better.
Change. Change can start with exactly that…..some change. Find something you spend money on that has become a habit that you want|need to break. Whatever you spend on it routinely, put that money aside and see how much you save at the end of the year. I told you guys in order to decorate my home I stopped shopping. There was no way I could afford two habits at the same time.
If you can change the world, change your community, or even change the way one person thinks, you’ve done a good deed. You’ve just helped someone and hopefully changed them for the better. For majority of us that change comes from within. There’s something we need to change about ourselves that will not only make our situation better, but also the people around us. If a parent makes a bad decision, that one decision can effect a whole family. If your current president makes a bad decision, it can, will, and probably has….. Nevermind, you get the picture. Change can easily start with you.
Hello, Gorgeous!!!!! I’ve missed you guys!! Between decorating for myself and others and doing Christmas trees, to hosting holidays and entertaining, to trying to find 2 hours to simply rest, I’ve been too occupied to blog. But, I’m back and not only do you get a blog today, you’re getting another one in the next day or two. I had to start with this icebreaker blog before getting too serious. Is there anything particular you want me to blog on? Let me know! Have a great week, Gorgeous!! Xoxo…..
